Description

The SHPO report outlines the history of SHPO involvement in the Mills Building including nominating the building to the National Register of Historic Places in 1973, and as a National Historic Landmark in 1974. In 1983-1984 a feasibility study was done to examine other possible uses of the building, since the Department of Mental Health had vacated it. The report also includes a timeline of the rehabilitation and major addition project, including communication between the developers, the National Park Service in Atlanta, and the SCSHPO.
