Hyndman & Company (c. 1756) was a London-based merchant trading company operated by John Hyndman, a Scot who had lived briefly in Virginia before moving to London in 1756 or 1757 when he started the firm as Hyndman & Lancaster, along with Richard Lancaster and Robert Bunn. When Lancaster died, the firm became John Hyndman & Company, with new partner, Thomas Main, a nephew of Hyndman. When Hyndman died in 1785, Main continued the business until the early 1800s.
