Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) was an American founding statesmen, co-authoring the Declaration of Independence with John Adams and Jefferson, as well as serving in the 1787 Constitutional Convention. He has a printer, scientist, inventor, man of letters, and diplomat. He served many years as minister to France, where he was regarded as something of an American folk hero. He returned to America reluctantly in 1785.
