Gray Skipwith (1771-1852) was William Short's first cousin, son of Sir Peyton Skipwith. He moved to England when a young adult, was educated at Eton and Trinity College, Cambridge. He remained in England, marrying a member of the English nobility, Harriett Townsend. He served in various British offices and lived out the remainder of his life in Warwickshire, England.
