Thomas Edmunds (1750/1751-1791) was a Virginia lawyer, plantation owner, and politician. He enlisted in the Continental army early in the American Revolution, where he became a major. In 1786, he was appointed colonel of the local militia, but although he refused the commission, he was referred to as Colonel Edmunds. He was William Short’s brother-in-law, married to Martha “Sally” Short. They had a daughter, who died young, and a son.
