About

Paul Richard Randall, an attorney from New York who had gone to school with Alexander Hamilton, travelled to London in 1785 and, at the urging of his friend John Adams, became secretary to John Lamb on a 1785 mission to Algiers to free American prisoners. On his return from Algiers, he stopped in Paris to visit with Thomas Jefferson before returning to London.
